Paul Grieguszies Schäfer
Born in Cape Town, South Africa, emigrated in 2008 to St. Gallen, Switzerland and living in Zurich since 2016.
Student in Architecture at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich.
For the past few years during my studies, I take off a couple of weeks to focus on my drawings. The main themes vary from fashion, bodies, patterns, textures to light and shadows, eventually all coming together. I tend to focus on male subjects, often nude, but currently they lack gender, colour or identity, reduced to a body. All my drawings are analogue as well as collaged by hand and the patterns are digital.
On the other side: my studio designs in architecture. The craft, art, construction and social co-ordination are relevant to develop projects with a point of view that reflect on present topics which can affect our future. Focussing on the urban, ecological and social contexts, the projects are mostly designed from re-used materials for a cultural conservation.
